Mars University

Founded in 2171, Mars University, or MU for short, was renowned for its extensive scientific research programs. Before this prestigious university came to be, they were one of the first research outposts on the red deserts of Mars; Outpost Alpha. Many of the scientists and researchers that manned Outpost Alpha became the first professors to staff the university; giving it an air of scientific excellence. The university also hosted a wide variety of sports teams known as "The Olympia Martians." And their mascot is "The little green man" or "Greenman" for short.

During the Martian World War, Mars University was structurally damaged to such a level that the campus had to be shut down from 2281 to 2289. During this time degrees and classes were put on halt while staff and students ensured their safety during the war. When the university was rebuilt many students and staff opted to come back to finish their degrees.After Mars University was repaired, the University became the leading force behind the post-war reconstruction effort and began hosting the leading researchers for robotics and prosthetics as part of its contributions. The goal was to focus its resources on the creation of synthetics designed with Mars’ climate and the ability to safely operate within disaster areas in mind, as well as improving upon existing prosthetic designs to help the victims of the war. Mars University offered multiple degrees in the topics of cyborgification and applied robotics even beyond the 2260s when cyborgification became taboo, however, after Mars University was rebuilt in 2289 all classes regarding cyborgification were dropped from the campus curriculum.

The Violet Dawn explosion in 2462 destroyed countless arcologies, including Olympia, where Mars University was once located. The Provisional Government of Mars singled out those lost on Mars University’s campus specifically when they acknowledged the victims of the Violent Dawn incident, but so far there has been no mention of relocating Mars University to a new arcology.
