| |||
The Trasens are arguably the most influential family to have ever existed within the Orion Spur, having accumulated a vast network of assets thanks to the founding of NanoTrasen – borne from the Red Planet from which the family hails, being able to trace their roots to the initial colonisation of Mars – that focused on groundbreaking medical innovations such as genetic tampering and even small-scale cloning. Much of the family’s power and influence can be directly attributed to Xavier Trasen, who founded the megacorporation and pursued domination of competitors with little holding them back. It was the man’s rigorous efforts, and unyielding spirit, that allowed NanoTrasen to flourish into what it is today. The discovery of Phoron in 2417 allowed the megacorporation to establish an early monopoly on the mineral – and hold over the Republic of Biesel. NanoTrasen saw an era of unprecedented, unrestricted expansion commencing shortly after the discovery of the mineral, which only saw a slight decline when the scarcity began to unravel. Despite these setbacks in recent times, NanoTrasen remains dominant within the Orion Spur, with Miranda Trasen manning the health of both the megacorporation and the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate – of which it forms a pseudo-holding company with the other influential organisations of the Spur.

Xavier’s father, and Miranda’s grandfather, Leonardo Trasen is largely considered the “beginning” of the family. Having been born in the midst of the Second Great Depression within Olympia, Leonardo suffered extreme hardships on Mars. Despite these obstacles, he successfully managed to journey through what was thrown against him – eventually enlisting with the Solarian Alliance’s Navy a few years after the outbreak of the First Interstellar War, and the Martian World War. Though it has been suspected that the Trasens had aligned themselves to the Red Rangers – thereby against the Solarian Alliance – the family has refused to comment on the circumstances, with Xavier Trasen even dedicating several chapters to his holobook published by Ingi Usang Entertainment Company about the events that lead to the creation of NanoTrasen, arguing his father remained loyal to the Solarian Coalition (or the Blues) otherwise he (Xavier) never would have received the initial funding for his business proposition. Sometime during the First Interstellar War, Leonardo met and married Luisa Marcello. On May 5th, 2325 Leonardo and Luisa became parents, with Xavier entering their lives. Fifteen years later, they welcomed Nita to their growing family. Leonardo remained within the Solarian Alliance’s Navy until his retirement in 2344. He died on June 28th, 2346 at the age of 79 – leaving behind a wife, son and daughter.

Xavier Trasen is considered one of the most influential beings in the history of the Orion Spur, having shaped the progression of humanity (along other species) by forming NanoTrasen. Born in Olympia, Xavier managed to traverse the post-war environment of Mars – from both its Civil War and the First Interstellar War that remained a stain on the Solarian Alliance even decades after – and eventually studied to achieve a Bachelor of Genetic Engineering with Mars University, through which he was accredited to have been a phenomenal groundbreaker in the science even prior to the formation of NanoTrasen.
At the young age of 21, Xavier created NanoTrasen, having received funding for its establishment from a combination of loans and stipends given to the families of veterans that served in the Interstellar War. From there, NanoTrasen rapidly broadened its horizons – though initially focusing on genetics, it developed into a competitor to Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals by 2350 – merely four years after its founding. It cannibalised the smaller companies that it saw as potential competitors, eventually forming a monopoly on the Red Planet. By the late 2370s, NanoTrasen became a somewhat renowned megacorporation within the Solarian Alliance, a household name to many on Mars, however. It wasn’t until the discovery of phoron that the megacorporation entered a golden age, becoming what it is today.
Xavier would go on to die the Orion Spur’s richest person, passing his position to his daughter, Miranda Trasen. He was married to Xiao Jie for almost fifty years at the time of his death, having met her during the 2370s during NanoTrasen’s rise to dominance across the Red Planet. He remarked that his greatest achievement in life was raising Miranda, that everything else fell second to his family – though some disagreed, claiming he spent the majority of his time at the megacorporation. Many recall Xavier as being a rather stalwart individual, with employees remarking that the man treated them equally regardless of their position, age or experience within the company. Though, his competitors often remarked him as being cut-throat and unwavering. The release of his holobook, years after his death in 2443, allowed many to experience his personality – in which there were mixed reviews. Some leaned into the stalwart personality, while others claimed it was the competitors who were right.

Born in Cua Song on New Hai Phong, Xiao Jie had thought her life would be resigned to that of her familial occupation – operating a blockfarm. Despite this rather dim perspective of her future, Xiao Jie went on to ensure her life would be successful, advocating for her education and excelling in avenues that she pursued. Xiao very quickly became a leading woman within Xenobotanical Studies, leading excavations to the untouched corners of the Orion Spur to collect samples. Through her employment by a now-defunct corporation from Mars, absorbed by NanoTrasen’s growth, she was able to meet Xavier. Though he would technically be her superior, both decided to pursue a relationship. The discovery of the relationship made headlines for months – “Xavier dates Employee!”, “Xavier fraternises with Staff!” – regardless, they maintained their commitment to one another, wedding in 2398. Xiao Jie would eventually retire from her career to devote herself to raising Miranda, born in 2413 – just a few years prior to the discovery of phoron. Miranda and her mother were inseparable during her formative years, with paparazzi frequently distributing photos of their bond whenever they were seen in public. Xiao’s death in 2446 allegedly caused Miranda significant emotional turmoil, resigning herself to the shadows of NanoTrasen as she recovered from the self-proclaimed monumental loss of not just a great mind, but a great mother. Xiao Jie and Xavier Trasen were immortalised in a statue dedicated to them in the megacorporation’s headquarters in District One by their daughter, Miranda.
