Below is a summary of the arc's events, applicable news articles and additions.
Drones pick up signalsNews Article Publisher : The Orion Spur Oracle Writer : Caelphon Editor : The Lore Team 06/23/2464 Nanotrasen drones picked up anomalous signals within the Valley Hale region of space, believed to be indicative of a phoron deposit. The SCCV Horizon is dispatched to Valley Hale to begin searching. NanoTrasen has announced, separate to the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate, that its drones have located anomalous signals within Valley Hale. Spokesmen on behalf of NanoTrasen confirmed that the megacorporation has experimented with altering the technology present on the SCCV Horizon to be more compact, with the first prototypes of such technology being sent across the Orion Spur. Hope has been relit within the hearts of many, especially those impacted by the growing scarcity of the valuable mineral. Many have critiqued the megacorporation for prematurely announcing the discovery, some accusing them of doing so to increase the prices of their stocks, or merely to reignite the tensions between the Solarian Alliance and the Republic of Biesel. Other members of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate have not commented on the discovery, and our attempts to communicate with their spokesmen have been in vain. Dreary Futures: All Aboard!Event Location : The SCCV Horizon Lore Handler : Caelphon Admin : Albyerk 07/23/2464 The first event of the Dreary Futures Arc The SCCV Horizon receives it's new mission and begins moving towards Valley Hale. They also hire an FSF vessel for protection, the FSFV Caravaggio, a battlecruiser which has just returned from deployment in the Middle Ring Shield Pact fighting the fleets of the Solarian Restoration Front. They view the contract to guard the Horizon as an easy laid back job while they recuperate. Dreary Futures: RedockingEvent Location : Odyssey Station Lore Handler : Caelphon Admin : Albyerk 08/07/2464 The second event of the Dreary Futures Arc The Horizon finally makes it to Valley Hale, docking with Odyssey station for resupply and some crew rest and relaxation. The Caraviaggo's senior officers, Captain Kruger and Commander Becker are invited to have a meal with the command of the Horizon. However, SFA remnants were also encountered aboard the station, and eventually turned hostile. Due to the Horizon's crew not assisting them in time, both Captain Kruger and Commander Becker were killed by the SFA. Eventually the Horizon crew managed to kill the SFA. They then boarded the SFA shuttle and seized a large amount of phoron as their own. NanoTrasen finds PhoronNews Article Publisher : Orion Spur Oracle Writer : Caelphon Editor : The Lore Team 08/07/2464 NanoTrasen announces the discovery of Phoron within Valley Hale. Thanks to the advanced technology present aboard the Venator-Class SCCV Horizon, NanoTrasen has announced that phoronic elements have been discovered within the Valley Hale region of the Republic of Biesel, less than a light-year from the shared border with the Serene Republic of Elyra. Additional efforts are required to determine its exact location, but it is certain that soon there may perhaps be a remedy to the ongoing phoron scarcity. The Serene Republic has levied allegations of encroachment following the discovery, however, there are no formal discussions between the respective representatives of either Republic. Prior to the Horizon’s departure, the Conglomerate agreed that protection was required for their flagship, securing its safety with the hiring of the FSF Caravaggio. Commanded by Captain Gerhardus Kruger, the FSF Caravaggio is a vigorous Taipei-class that has been central to the ongoing stability of the Free Solarian Fleet-patrolled Wildlands, now vital to the ongoing effort to combat the phoron scarcity. While it may have been believed to bring relief to the Orion Spur, preliminary scans of the detected elements show it will likely not alleviate the scarcity, but instead slow it down - essentially maintaining the status quo for a while until the veins of phoron are exhausted. However, until the actual discovery of the precious mineral the only advantage to the detection is the slight recovery of the interstellar economy. In other news, the Biesellite Credit has strengthened in light of this discovery. However, it is expected to be overtaken in the coming months by the Solarian Credit as the Spur begins to rely predominantly on Helium-3 to fuel their economy unless the phoron scarcity finds itself resolved according to economic analysts within the Republic of Biesel. The Federation Squipp saw some weakening but has remained stable during the ensuing energy crisis. Southern Fleet Administration Remnants EncounteredNews Article Publisher : Orion Spur Oracle Writer : Caelphon Editor : The Lore Team 08/07/2464 An article about the events of the previous event Dreary Futures: Redocking. The SCCV Horizon discovered remnants of Beauchamp’s Southern Fleet Administration harbouring a considerable repository of phoron in close proximity to what the Conglomerate believes is the origin of the supposed phoronic elements found within the region. The FSF Caravaggio was unable to engage these raiders which forced the Horizon, in the subsequent abandonment of the raider’s hideout, to reclaim the rightful property of NanoTrasen. Captain Gerhardus Kruger, alongside Lieutenant Riette Becker, were both assassinated after the SFA swept through Odyssey Station. The crew of the Horizon engaged the remnants of the faltering warlord state, ridding the Republic of Biesel of these brigands harbouring the lifeline of the Orion Spur. Further investigation from the Horizon revealed an intricate plan regarding the group’s intention to provide the hold of phoron to the Serene Republic of Elyra, allegedly hired to do so. The Serene Republic has denied these claims, stating that their state-owned enterprises would have been in charge of the extraction and refinement of the phoron, not Solarian outlaws. The assassination of the FSF Caravaggio’s Commanding Officers has put into question whether they will remain as an escort to the Horizon. Supposedly, it finds itself headed by Lieutenant Commander Pieter du Plessis, the FSF Caravaggio’s Operations Officer. Whatever happens, the Conglomerate will continue hunting for the origin of the phoronic elements detected and is closer than ever before according to representatives. Many continue to hope that it will be enough to satiate the ever-growing consumption of the Orion Spur. Dreary Futures: Forceful IntroductionsEvent Location : SCCV Horizon Lore Handler : Caelphon Admin : Albyerk 08/07/2464 The third event of the Dreary Futures Arc. LCMDR Du Plessis, the Caravaggio 3IC, now in command of the battlecrusier, boarded the Horizon during this event. Blaming the deaths of his former superiors Captain Kruger and Commander Becker on the Horizons crew for their lack of assistance until both were dead. He demands all the phoron seized by the Horizon from the SFA as compensation for their deaths, and so the Caravaggio can continue to operate at full capability, using the threat of the Caravaggio's massive main armaments to back his demands up. The Horizon complied with this demand, and then renegotiated their contract with the FSF, paying once again for their continued protection. Dreary Futures: Close to the SunEvent Location : SCCV Horizon Lore Handler : Lucaken Admin : Albyerk 09/04/2464 The forth event of the Dreary Futures Arc. A diplomatic team from the Serene Republic of Elyra, led by Ambassador Ceylan Karga, boarded the Horizon to speak to them about potential territorial encroachment. While the Ambassador got a tour of the vessel, her retinue went around speaking with many of the crew about a varity of topics. Eventually, a command meeting was held where Karga warned off the Horizon from continued operations within the Valley Hale region, stating that it was Elyran space and setting the stage for the final event. Dreary Futures: Eclipse ProtocolEvent Location : SCCV Horizon Lore Handler : Lucaken Admin : Mattatlas 09/18/2464 The fifth and final event of the Dreary Futures Arc. A special operations squad of the Elyran Armed Forces, codename Eagle Claw, boarded the Horizon with the intent of seizing the ship for trespassing within Elyran space, and for usage as a bargaining chip against the SCC. The Caravaggio, fulfilling their contract boarded soon after, intent on removing the Elyrans from the Horizon. The captain decided to side with the Caravaggio, ordering them to remove the Elyrans by force from the Horizon, causing the FSF marines to storm the bridge and eliminate the Elyrans. However, many other members of command disagreed with this course of action, and after the captain willfully gave up a large sum of phoron and credits to the FSF for their assistance, began to heavily protest this decision. This caused the FSF to open fire on those members of the crew disagreeing with the captain, starting a mutiny aboard. The FSF then left as things turned more and more sour, escaping back to the Caravaggio, which has since left the region leaving the Horizon unprotected. NanoTrasen Announces WithdrawalNews Article Publisher : The Orion Spur Oracle Writer : Caelphon Editor : The Lore Team 09/26/2464 NanoTrasen announces their withdrawal from the Serene Republic of Elyra, citing "hostile environment not beneficial for business" following demonstrations across al-Hamid Square. Chief Executive Officer Miranda Trasen of NanoTrasen Corporation has announced their intended withdrawal from the Serene Republic of Elyra citing a hostile environment with little economic benefit as a result of rising domestic tensions from the demonstrations across al-Hamid Square. This comes days after an alleged after-action report by the Elyran Ministry of Defence concerning an incursion that occurred on the SCCV Horizon, the existence of such an incident has been denied by both the Ministry of Defence and the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate. Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, Zavodskoi Interstellar, Hephaestus Industries, and Idris Incorporated have not commented on their position within the Republic of Elyra. They seem not to be following in the steps of NanoTrasen as it begins close its doors across the New Suez Free Economic Trade Zone. Employees have been given the opportunity to transfer to the megacorporation’s other branches across the Orion Spur, however, some have been appropriated by other constituent megacorporations within the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate that are taking advantage of NanoTrasen’s removal as they hire those that wish to remain within the Republic of Elyra. Additionally, the Republic of Biesel and the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate have denied that a territorial encroachment has occurred and have confirmed that the NanoTrasen proposed resource extraction and refinement operations site will continue - referred to as the Orchard Moon Mining Station. |
